Beautiful New Snowmobiles and Exciting Apres Ski Snowmobile Tours
The owners of the Sun Peaks Snowmobile Tours are launching a new Apres snowmobile tour on Fridays this season! Guests will set out at 4:30 and ride out to the quaint McGillivray Lake log cabin to have a luxury charcuterie box from Ohana Deli, then will ride back through the trees in the beautiful starlight!
They also upgraded their machines to the new 2025 Skidoo Expedition Sport machines that couples agile, precise handling with industry-leading features such comfort-focused suspensions, and updated, efficient Rotax engines, and the lead guide will be riding the fantastic new 2023 Taiga Nomad Electric snowmobile. With best-in-class EV technology, Taiga’s fully electric snowmobiles are helping preserve the purity of the great outdoors.

New SkiKrumb GPS-Enabled Ski Resort Technology Arrives At Sun Peaks
Not everyone has a cellphone, not everyone has Air Tags or Tiles, and not every cellphone or tag/tile will work throughout the huge Sun Peaks Resort area or for the duration of your day, especially in the cold weather.
So for the 2024/25 ski season, Sun Peaks and SkiKrumb have made the world’s first and only GPS ski resort tracker technology available for guests. With this new custom combination of technology, device, and an app, guests will be able to see live updates of where their friends and/or family members are on the custom resort map, even without cellphone connections.
A SkiKrumb device will also be placed on the free Sun Peaks intra-resort shuttle bus so guests can see live updates of where the shuttle bus is during the winter ski season.

West Bowl Ski Area - can't wait to explore the bowl area again!
New West Bowl Lift for the 2024/25 ski seasonPerhaps the most exciting of the 2024 Sun Peaks changes will be the completion of the West Bowl Express chairlift which was formally announced by Sun Peaks Resort in April, 2023 as the long-awaited replacement for the infamous West Bowl T-bar that was removed several years earlier.
It will once again be supplied by Doppelmayr, but unlike the new Orient and Crystal chairlifts which were fixed grip quads, the new West Bowl Express will be a higher speed detachable quad and will come at a cost of around $12 million.
The new 1,600 meter long higher-speed detachable lift (5m/second and just under 6 minutes to get to the top) with 1,000 vertical feet of elevation gain begins taking guests to the highest elevation area of Sun Peaks in time for the 2024/25 ski season.
While it is within the current resort boundaries and won't open up any new terrain area, it will create a nice increase in the length of the current runs in the West Bowl area, and there are three new runs ready for opening day.

Sun Peaks Ski & Snowboard Permanent Cross Course
New Ski & Snowboard Course Coming Soon - photo Sun Peaks ResortSun Peaks is adding a permanent ski and snowboard cross course on Sundance Mountain, in partnership with local excavation company Powder Ventures. Course construction started mid-July 2024 and will be completed this summer, with the course opening for the 2024/25 winter ski and snowboard season.
Course construction will be made possible by a three-year partnership and course title sponsorship agreement with long-time local Sun Peaks company, Powder Ventures Excavations, who will be contributing significant machine and manpower resources to the project build. The Powder Ventures Ski and Snowboard Cross Course will be one of few cross courses in Canada built of dirt. Most are built out of snow each winter season, as has been the case in Sun Peaks since 2019. This project, valued at $100,000, has plenty of long-term benefits.
“A permanent course will significantly reduce our reliance on early season snow, snow making resources, and snow cat operating time, and allow us to open the course earlier in the season,” says Aaron Macdonald, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer for Sun Peaks Resort.
