The Sun Peaks Community Pool Has Finally Re-opened!

The local swimming pool officially re-opened on August 23, 2024 with plenty of happy, smiling faces looking forward to finally being able to splash and chill on hot summer days, in the centrally located pool that has been out of operation for a number of years.

Both locals and visitors alike have been pushing hard to get the Sun Peaks Pool open again, after it was closed due to budget constraints, operational and maintenance issues, covid, construction delays, and a number of other unfortunate reasons.

But now the pool is open for summers again, with the popular operator of Sun Peaks Alpine Fitness (located in the same building, across from the top of the village, near the new Sun Peaks playground, community plaza and skating rink) agreeing to handle the day-to-day operations of the pool on behalf of the Sun Peaks Municipality.

        Sun Peaks Pool - Rules and Pricing

Given the pool will be maintained by a private local business operator as part of their popular fitness business, it will be run a little differently than a normal municipal pool.

Guests wanting to cool off after some wonderful summer hiking or mountain biking (or tennis, pickleball, golfing, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, axe throwing, or many other fun summer activities in Sun Peaks) will need to purchase a 'drop-in' membership pass for the day, or purchase an individual or family punch card for those staying longer at the resort.

The number of patrons allowed at any one time will be limited for safety reasons.

It is important to note that there will NOT be a lifeguard on duty initially, and there are of course plenty of posted safety rules to follow with regards to parental supervision, horseplay, etc.

There are plans in the future to be able to offer more programs and services at the Sun Peaks Pool, but for now guests and locals are happy to once again be able to chill and play in our centrally located pool in a beautiful alpine mountain setting.
